Mediterranean Steak & Cheese

This recipe was on the recommendation of my mother who was visiting, and follows Dede Med on Facebook. She was particularly intrigued by the Mediterranean Steak & Cheese recipe, so we tried it out, and it was really fantastic and unique.

Ingredients

2 lbs. Skirt steak, sliced into strips
1 Onion, sliced
4 tbsp. Olive oil
1 tbsp. Garlic, chopped
3 tbsp. Lemon juice
1 1/2 tsp. Salt
1/2 cup Water
6 slices Foccacia
Havarti cheese
Sun dried tomatoes


Directions

Heat a large skillet, add the olive oil and the sliced steak, and let it cook for 8 minutes. Add the onions, garlic and salt, and cook for 5 minutes.


Add the water and lemon juice, and cook until all the liquid has evaporated. Set aside.

Slice the foccacia bread


and toast it under the broiler.


On one side, add the steak and havarti cheese



Put these sides back under the broiler until the cheese melts


And top with the sun dried tomatoes


On the other sides of the bread, spread mayonnaise, and put the 2 sides together for a really great sandwich!
